Sygic have released a new version of the POI convertor program (here ) which fixes a nasty little bug for longitude values of -0.x (this covers a vertical strip from Reading to Central London in width). As far as I can tell there have been no other changes in the program, but at least I can now get alerts when travelling down the M40 and M25. My only other wish for the program now is for some batch conversion facilites to be introduced as I have over 50 different POI files to convert whenever new versions are released. |

The McGuider Assistant update service now appears to be working (I had to use a card reader rather than my phone to get the card recognised by MGA) and 3 updates are available. 1. New map for the UK. It appears to be the same core map (ver 7.80) as supplied with 2009 version but the summary suggests it supports 7 digit postcodes. I have never had any issues with 7 digit postcodes but have heard rumours Symbian phones have so can only guess this map update fixes this. 2. 2009.1 Speed camera update. This is only listed as a purchase item but clicking buy gives no way of purchasing the update. Also McGuider 2009 is advertised as having free speed camera alerts. It is looking like this might be a one-time free file with updates being charged. 3. Russian map addon for Moscow area. Again this is listed as a purchase item, with no way of actually purchasing the update if wanted. |

The pricing remains the same on their website at £59.99, although existing users can register their current 2008 version on McGuider.com to receive a 15% off discount code to be used at the TeleAtlas NavShop (when the code generator is working). Initial changes are Software code gone from version 7.5 to 7.7 Maps updated to more current base SD Card capacity increased to 4GB - this may cause issues for devices that do not support microSDHC cards Availability of DVD version for devices with no SD card slot or those which do not support SDHC cards. TUV SUD approval. A more thorough review will be available once my card arrives. Vince |
